Server up and running..

Even the last part was a big problem. It turned out that the company
that delivered the package, delivered it to the wrong address! Just
consider, a package with a value of approx. 1000EUR delivered to the
wrong person without any authentication of that person. Incredible. In
any case, alternate will hear from me about this.

RAID card delivery with UPS… aarghhh!!!!

Ok, it looks like everything that can go wrong will go wrong. When I
ordered the RAID card, I explicitly selected delivery by regular post
(which means I will get the package). Nevertheless, something went
wrong and the package will be delivered by UPS. In fact it arrived
yesterday, when I was at work, today, when I was also at work, and will
arrive again for the final time tomorrow (when I will be at work
again).

Exchange of RAID card…

As it turns out, the server will arrive later and it looks like I was
misinformed by alternate last week. As a result, it becomes impossible
to try out the Highpoint RocketRaid 2310 because if it would turn ou to
be incompatible, it wouldn’t be possible anymore to return it and get
my money back.

waiting for the parts…

Great news, after spending 5 freakin’ days in customs, my Seritek/2EN2
storage enclosure finally passed through customs. Makes you wonder what
the hell they do with all those packages in customs. Anyway, now the
package is a
free citizin with an unlimited residence permit for the Netherlands.
Not even Rita can expel it now! It should arrive within the next
two days.

I’ve caught the server virus again

After being constantly on since april 2002, it is time that the current Pentium III server is replaced. It is making a lot of noise and sooner or later, I expect it to stop working anyway. Also, the storage is approaching its 200GB limit so it is time for a change. Now, for the past days I have been googling like an idiot for days figuring out exactly what I need and where to order it.
